Paige Maloney, aCNP
Paige’s Philosophy
I plan landscapes based on season and function, with an emphasis on plant health. I love working with native desert plants and desert adapted plants.
Paige’s areas of expertise
- Xeriscape gardens
- Pollinator and bird friendly yards
- NAOS & adjacent areas
- Mesic “Spanish style” gardens

Correcting Costly Industry Behavior
How plants are installed can determine whether they flourish or fail in the subsequent years. Planting mistakes are sadly common in the Phoenix area, and the health of the plant is negatively affected by these mistakes.
Replacing dead plants is expensive! Have someone do it right the first time.
When planting, I will NEVER
- Plant a shrub too deep, leading to long-term failure
- Plant something in inappropriate sun exposure
- Plant a shrub that is way too big for the space, leading to expensive maintenance costs

What I Promise to Do
- Assess the needs of the plant when deciding where to put it
- Adequately dig the planting hole to give the roots space to grow
- Set up the irrigation to provide the water needed to become established
- Give the homeowner advice and instructions going forward, and support when needed
Arizona Certified Nursery Professional (ACNP)
Expertise matters in our complex low desert environment. Study and practical skill matter for proper planting in Arizona. Here is some of the knowledge I bring to my work.
Knowledgeable in Desert Plants
I studied 200 of the commonly used plants in Phoenix area landscapes for their growth and characteristics. I understand the local desert plants that grow in the bajada and nearby low desert.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Happy plants are naturally resistant to pests. When I do use chemicals, I’ll start with the least toxic option available to protect your plant.

Maricopa County Smartscape
Paige is continuing her education with the Smartscape program for landscape professionals. This program offers comprehensive training of design, installation, irrigation, and maintenance of desert adapted plants for our unique desert region. She became Smartscape certified in 2025 and plans to further her education with Advanced Smartscape courses.
